Consultation Responses
Last year, HS2 Ltd and the Department for Transport ran a consultation on a national strategy for high speed rail and a proposed route from London to the West Midlands.
The consultation ran for five months and closed on 29 July 2011. More information on that consultation can be found here:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/topics/high-speed-rail/consultation
An independent company, Dialogue by Design, was commissioned to analyse and report back on nearly 55,000 responses to the consultation. Their summary report was published in January 2012 and can be downloaded here:

In line with our commitment to transparency and openness of information, we have instructed Dialogue by Design to publish responses to the consultation on a new microsite.
These responses have been systematically reviewed so that all sensitive, personal information, such as names and addresses, has been redacted and not published.
We have not published any responses where the respondent ticked a confidentiality request box, or where responses were submitted by individuals or local businesses in a format that did not provide an opportunity to explicitly request confidentiality, for example by email or letter.
Please refer to the microsite for full details of how responses have been treated, including an explanation of how they were analysed and reported on by Dialogue by Design.

Phase 1 Consultation Update:
20 July 2012
The Secretary of State for Transport issued a statement to Parliament on 17 July 2012 explaining that 413 consultation responses from members of the public and organisations were unintentionally not passed to Dialogue by Design, an independent response analysis agency, for inclusion in their analysis and summary report.
These additional responses have now been analysed by Dialogue by Design, and their report is published on the DfT website:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/publications/high-speed-rail-addendum/
Responses from elected individuals and from organisations, excluding local and regional businesses, have also been published on the Consultation Responses website: http://highspeedrailresponses.dft.gov.uk/
